We think this list will help you to prepare for what you may expect & what we would recommend for your benefit:
-Please be aware of our studio policies, which you can read on our website.
-It is imperative that you try to not miss ANY classes, as beginners need every hour of instruction. Ceramics is a very time-intensive art form, the 21 hours of instruction you will receive over the next 7 weeks will be the bare minimum.
-Wear comfortable, easy care clothing. Avoid loose sleeves or tassels.
-Tool kits will be available for sale when you arrive, we have new kits and used kits available as well, for a discount.
-Trim fingernails to prevent slicing or nicking the clay.
-Keep long hair off your shoulders in a braid, pony tail, or updo.
-A small hand towel to dry your hands is optional.
-An apron is not necessary, but it can be helpful in reducing clay splatters on your clothing.
-We allow for 1 missed class per session, which means you can make that time (3 hours) up during workshop time, but without any teacher guidance/instruction.
-All beginner wheel students who miss one of the FIRST 2 CLASSES will have a limited teacher instruction make-up time slot available on the 3rd Friday of the session at 6pm. There will be a teacher there to give you some instruction on what you missed. You MUST email us at info@potterswheelny.com to be added to that slot, we can not have any unannounced walk-ins as we have other students utilizing the studio at that time as well. All unannounced walk-in’s for that beginner wheel make up time will be asked to leave. Thank you for your cooperation.
-We usually have dedicated workshop time at the end of every session. We allow for non-returning students to come for workshop time during the first week of that session to completely wrap up their work. After that first week of the new session, workshop time is for THAT session's registered students ONLY. If you are planning on taking a break once the session ends, we ask that you please rent your shelf, or clear it off before the next session begins.
-We suggest you subscribe to our email list for registration announcements, schedule updates, and studio news.
