PLEASE READ BELOW AND FAMILIARIZE YOURSELF WITH OUR NEW RULES & POLICIES FOR BEING AN INDEPENDENT ARTIST:
1. The day & workshop time you choose will be the one (1) day of the week that you will come in for your 3 hours of independent class time, i.e., whichever given slot on a given day works the best for your schedule, you will get, depending on our schedule, 3 OR 4 "chosen class slots" in the session for either the hand building area or the wheel area for 3 hours ONLY. Please do not come during any "normal" scheduled class time, that time is for the students who registered for that time. There will be no exceptions to this.
2. If you miss one of your "chosen class slots" times during the session, you will still get one makeup class, to be made up during workshop time ONLY. If you miss 2 or more "chosen class slot" times, you will need to book workshop time on our website.
3. As an independent artist, you still must purchase workshop time if you wish to work at the studio on days/times that are not your "chosen class slot" during the week. That time must still be scheduled on our website, as we are keeping our policy of having ALL TIME at the studio scheduled via our website. The availability that you will find on the website is the availability we have, please do not "pop in" or call to see if there is space, as that takes valuable time away from us to do all the studio related tasks we have to do on a daily basis.
4. The tuition payment entitles you to 3 hours at the studio, and that is the same for workshop time. We ask that you please be aware of the time when you are there. The breaks in between class and workshops on any given day are there for our teachers to attend to the day-to-day chores at the studio, as well as to give them time without anyone in the studio to get in the way of their cleaning & preparing for the next class. We can not stress how important that time is. Please make sure to leave the studio in a timely manner once your time there is over, there will be no exceptions to this policy. We are asking this of all our students.
Experienced potters can enroll to work in our facility for the duration of a two-month session. Knowledge of ceramic practices is necessary for enrollment. All studio clays and glazes are included. We offer mid-range high fire (cone 6) clay in buff and white stoneware, as well as low fire red or white earthenware. Underglazes are available as well, or the artist can provide their own materials. We fire bisque to cone 04 and glaze fire at cone 05 and cone 6. The artist may also bring their own clay as long as it can be fired given our protocols. This option does not include instruction. Enrollments are pending final approval.
Please comply with our workshop procedures, information can be found HERE.
