Beginner Wheel:
Classes cover the basics of creating ceramic forms on the wheel and glazing techniques. No experience required. This can be an excellent option for those with previous experience to review basic skills. Advanced Wheel:
Sessions focus upon specific techniques and styles in ceramics history at the discretion of the instructor. Students are encouraged to explore their creative vision while improving their skill set. Wheel - All Levels:
This class is ideal for adults with busy schedules, or those who enjoy working with a wider perspective instead of a more traditional cohesive student body. Exploring Altered Forms:
Students will explore the possibilities and limits of altering cylinders, pinch pots or slabs into sculptural and/or functional pieces using either hand-built forms or wheel-thrown vessels. Design features can include stamping, coiling, darting and sprigging and other handbuilding techniques. Experience with handbuilding and/or wheel is required for this course. Classes per session - 7; $315 includes clay and glazes; one-time firing fee of four cents per cubic inch apply.

Handbuilding:

Wheel with Handbuilding:
While this course is strongly focused on handbuilding, this course offers the option for two methods of construction by incorporating wheel thrown shapes and altering them with hand-building techniques. Experience in wheel and/or handbuilding is suggested. Classes per session - 7; $315 includes clay and glazes; one-time firing fee of four cents per cubic inch apply.

Sculpture (3 week class) $225
This introduction to sculpture will incorporate basic hand building techniques to create forms and figures in abstract, realistic, anthropomorphic, or animal shapes. No previous experience is necessary. Focus will be on free-standing, non-functional sculpture.

Glaze Class:
Sessions are designed to demystify the use and application of glazes for intermediate level students, or improve the skill and repertoire of more advanced students. Bisqued tiles are provided for hands-on testing of glaze combinations, stains, oxides, slips, underglazes and sgraffito. Classes will run for two hours. Students are requested to maintain notes, as well as bring prepared bisqueware for glazing. Classes per session - 7; $200 includes all materials, including bisqued test tiles and firing of test tiles. If taken with another class save 50%.

Kids Handbuilding:
Classes are designed to provide children a creative outlet and opportunities to problem solve while developing fine motor and social skills. Class size is limited in order to encourage children to explore the creative process in a nurturing environment. Classes per session - 7; $210 includes all firing fees, clay and glazes.

Tweens and Teens Wheel Class:
Tweens and Teens can learn the basics of wheel throwing and fundamental glazing techniques. No previous experience required. Classes per session 7; $250 includes all firing fees, clay and glazes.

Kids & Their Grown-ups:
Adult Guardians & Children from 5 - 13. This is an option designed to offer a child and a significant adult to share a creative experience by collaborating on selected projects by the use of various clay processes. No experience required. We meet once a week for 3 weeks. Cost is $75. for 1 adult and 1 child. Additional children or adults are $15 each. Includes clay and glazes. Call for reservation in advance.
Monday Afternoon from 4:30pm to 6pm
Family Time
Young families can come for a one-hour introduction to hand building techniques. Learn about the age old methods of pinch pots, slabs and coiling, which are the foundations of ceramics. Up to four people $45. Each additional person is $10.
Sunday Afternoons fom 1pm to 2pm.
Private Lessons:
For an introduction or refresher to wheel or hand building, instruction can be scheduled by appointment for either a one-on-one lesson or in a small group. The rate of $45 per hour, per person does not include firing fees. Firing and glazing of item(s) created during the lesson is subject to an additional $15 fee. For more details, please call.
Tools:
Students in the adult classes will require their own tools. A beginner kit is available for $20. We also have other tools and materials on hand for purchase.
Policies:
All missed classes can be made up in another class with prior notice and approval, or during workshop times (without instruction) within the current session. No carry overs, please. No refunds. Thank you.
Open workshop fees are $2 per hour for registered students. All others with experience pay $20 per hour and eight-cents a cubic inch in total for bisque and glaze firing.
